PAALS Volunteers

PAALS has over 200 registered volunteers who have put in thousands of hours of volunteer work. Volunteer areas include administration, fostering, pupsitting, events, animal care, transporting, facility maintenance, laundry just to name a few!

Each year PAALS recognizes volunteers for their commitment and dedication.

2015 Volunteer of the Year

Nominating Criteria

  • The person currently volunteers at PAALS.
  • The number of hours worked is not as important as a willingness to do-what-it-takes-to-get-the-job-done attitude” with a smile on their face!
  • Previous winners are ineligible.

Adrianna Aylard

Adrianna has worked with PAALS from the start. Adrianna has saved PAALS thousands of dollars over the years with her skills as a talented seamstress. Every single PAALS patch you see – on a pouch, a cape, etc. – is sewn on by Adrianna herself. She spends her own time and money piecing back together numerous dog beds, toys, leashes, place mats, treat pouches and so much more. Each and every dog that PAALS has placed in the past nine years has been placed with a specific, personalized cape handmade by Adrianna. Ever flexible, and accommodating, Adrianna is certain to finish projects for us even when they are given to her at the last possible

2015 Spirit Award

Nominating Criteria

  • The person currently volunteers at PAALS.
  • The Volunteer Spirit Award recognizes individuals or groups who voluntarily perform beyond the normal job expectations. They are motivated simply by the accomplishment of the task.
  • Previous winners are ineligible.

Nancy Myer

Nancy practically lived at our new facility during initial renovation and the subsequent restoration, taking on painting and cleaning our entrance and admin office. She did this in addition to selling her house and moving, fostering dogs and contending with her own new home flooding during the statewide flood. She is always smiling and supportive!

2015 Special Recognition

Nominating Criteria

This award is not given every year. However, sometimes a volunteer’s effort is so far above and beyond that special recognition is warranted.

Keith Frair

Keith has been with PAALS as a volunteer almost since our inception! He started as a pupsitter and has blossomed into a jack-of-all-trades for PAALS. His incredible handyman skills have literally saved PAALS thousands of dollars over the years. Keith agreed to become project manager for renovation of the old daycare into a PAALS facility. After the flood he had to dismantle a lot of his own creations due to the black water loss. He managed to keep an inspiring spirit through it all and is PAALS’ saving angel!
