10/10/09 TEAM TRAINING NOW HAPPENING

Clients are currently in columbia learning to work with their dogs and learning the special skills that each dog was trained specifically for based on the clients needs. Training occurs at our partner's donated facility through Richland County Recreation Commission. Fundraising to support this training is still needed from the community.

One PAALS dog is Copper, a labradoodle, has been trained to a light writer keyboard as his partner cannot speak. This special dog knows over fifty different keyboard words that represent helpful behaviors. Some examples are to get the phone, pick up a cell phone, retrieve dropped items. Copper can go also go get help from someone else in the house.

Another PAALS dog is Grace, a yellow Labrador. She has been trained as the first "Rob's Best Friend Fund" (RBFF) dog for Tate!  The RBFF was set up to help any police officer, fire fighter, or military officer who is in need of assistance. Tate will have help from Grace doing laundry, opening doors, and as a loyal companion.
